Oliver!

Music and lyrics by Lionel Bart, Johnny Green, Eric Rogers and Onna White Based on the book by Charles Dickens

The classic British musical came to The Gaiety Theatre, vividly bringing to life Dickens’ timeless characters with its ever popular story of the boy who asked for more. Nothing works on the stage like a well-crafted tale, and Oliver! is just such a show.

Oliver! played for over three years at the London Palladium (1,366 performances), grossing £40 million at the Box Office.

Based on the Dickens novel the musical is an adaptation about an orphan who runs away from an orphanage and hooks up with a group of boys trained to be pickpockets by an elderly mentor. It engaged the Gaiety audience with its pathos and drama, while delighting everyone with its outstanding musical numbers.

A sensational score full of Lionel Bart’s irresistible songs, including Food Glorious Food, Consider Yourself, Pick a Pocket or Two, I’d Do Anything, Oom Pah Pah, As Long As He Needs Me and many more.

Dickens’ characters were brought to life – perhaps larger than life – with all their many facets glowing in this production
