Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Music and Lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman Based on the book by Ian Fleming
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was celebrating its 50th birthday and flew into the Gaiety Theatre from the 6th – 18th August, 2018. Based on the beloved 1968 film version of Ian Flemings’ children’s book, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is the ultimate family friendly blockbuster that left audience members mesmerized and wanting more.
Taylorian was absolutely delighted to welcome back two of its stars, local girl Laura Piggot and Tom Dickerson, both who are currently studying at London drama schools. Laura took on the role of the wonderful Truly Scrumptious, whilst Tom played the eccentric character Caratacus Potts, the father of Jeremy and Jemima and made famous by the iconic Dick Van Dyke. Tom is no stranger to the Island’s theatre scene having appeared in Taylorian Productions’ 2017 Summer Show “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”.
Other well-known island performers were Ben Karran, Lisa Kreisky, Chris Caine, Mandy Griffin, Paul Sellors, Ben Heath, Andrew Halstein & many more….. Once again Mr. Chris Cuming will be Artistic Director & Choreographer, Mr. Kelvin Towse, Musical Director & Mr. Scott Hunter, Associate Artistic Director & Choreographer, to have this truly professional trio really is the Toot Sweets icing on the cake.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang featured a brand-new sensational set, creative effects, yes – a flying car and of course the fabulous score by the Sherman Brothers, including well known classics such as Truly Scrumptious, Toot Sweets, Me ol’ Bamboo, Hush-a-Bye Mountain and the Oscar nominated title song Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
