Set in 1862, its focus is on a truly pioneering woman, Anna Leonowens who with her son lands in a different civilization with different values and culture. Awidowed mother, perhaps desperate to work but a woman of great intellect and courage, probably a match for any king, but this king in particular is a radical man who struggles to choose between progress and tradition and finds himself thrust into a turbulent relationship with a stubborn but intelligent woman, who exercises her colonial superiority, creating an unmistakable electricity between them.

Add to this well acted,well carved other characters, a musical score of classic show stopping numbers, that all further the plot, and we have a magical world of Siam in the early 1860s. So as the ornate doors of the stage set fly away, come into the world that we have been creating for 'many, many months'.
