Fresh from the record breaking Wizard of Oz, Taylorian Productions is far from resting on its laurels.
After attracting nearly 9,500 people to its summer show - a record attendance for a local musical at the Gaiety Theatre – auditions start next week (Sep 16-18) for the pantomime The Adventures of Dick Whittington.
The company is looking for a range of singers and dancers for the Christmas special (Dec 17—31).
Audition pieces are now available from The Copy Shop, Bucks Road, Douglas or from Taylorian’s website: www.taylorianproductions.com – and include all your favourite panto characters.
Resident director John Cumberlidge said: “It’s a wonderful opportunity to be part of a vibrant company and take part in a project which will just add to the magic of Christmas. We are looking for good singers, those who can move well and, of course, those who are good at both. After the huge success of the Wizard of Oz and the time we devoted to it, we have not been able to offer all of the children parts yet but we hope to finalise those over audition weekend.
There are no plans to audition children again because we saw a vast number earlier in the year and we will be in touch with them – there’s so much young talent. We’re planning a sumptuous pantomime.”
Auditions will be held at the Manx Operatic Society rehearsal rooms in Finch Road in Douglas, with dancers and singers asked to come along at 7pm on Friday, September 16. There will be auditions for specific parts during the Saturday and call-backs on Sunday (full details on the Taylorian website).-
